Hotels in Venice on the Grand Canal

I have stayed at Calcina in Venice but was looking for a new experience. I don't want to spend over 250 Euros per night. I'd love a hotel that looks out on the Grand Canal or Giudecca.

My sister and her husband stayed at Cima Rosa on the Grand Canal this past July. Small and intimate, this luxury B&B has some rooms right on the GC, but they also have a guest lounge which looks out on the water for those in other rooms. They said they enjoyed virtually sole use of this great space. Furnishings are gorgeous. Service is fantastic.

Tall order. What time of year? Giudecca maybe. Also it is difficult to search, since a hotel might show an inexpensive price, but canal view rooms can be double.

It's not on the Grand Canal, but Lagoon-front: I just returned from the Hotel Bucintoro, which is small and family-owned. So it's not easy to get into. As far as I can tell, every room has a view, and some of the rooms are quite spacious. I was placed there by a group, and the leaders had to stay in a less-desirable hotel because the Bucintoro filled up. It might be a little too close to the noisy public boat dock for no-air conditioning sleep in the summer, but I was there in September.

Have a look at Ca'Angeli. The breakfast room has big windows over the Grand Canal, the bedrooms have small windows over the side canal just feet from the Grand Canal, except one room overlooks. Prices were decent for Venice when we stayed there.

Another endorsement of Ca'Angeli. The room over the Grand Canal is very nice.
