My husband & I are planning on going to Venice for a few days after out RS "Heart of Italy" tour. Does anyone have any suggestions on good hotels?

We always stay at the Hotel Abbazia in the sestiere (district) Canneregio, where the Santa Lucia Stazione is located. It is a former Carmelite Monastery situated on a quiet calle (alley). The hotel is very comfortable, the breakfast is generous, and the staff is extremely helpful, especially Matteo and Mirko.
You can also look at venere.com and cross reference with tripadvisor.com. The client reviews on venere can only be posted by people who have actually stayed at the property.
One suggestion: Wander off to the back streets and you will be in a different Venice, especially at night. You will encounter few tourist as the main parts will be CROWDED.
