Hotels in Venice

We are thinking of staying at the Hotel Riva in Venice in July. Has anyone stayed there? Is it worth the extra 50 Euro to have the room with a balcony? Any advice would be appreciated.

I always use venere.com, and lately, have used tripadvisor.com. Keep in mind that everything in Venice is more expensive, but well worth the splurge, especially at night once the daytrippers have departed.

Two years ago we stayed at the Hotel Abbazia in the Cannereggio section of Venice. It is several blocks from the train station Santa Lucia on a very quiet calle (alley). The place is a former Carmalite monastery.

If the balcony overlooks a canal it might be worth the extra cost.

Buon viaggio,

RB

We stayed at hotel Ca' Foscari a couple years ago. If I could do it over again and if it is in your budget yes I would have paid more for the balcony and sat out there in the late afternoon/evening bringing in wine and cheeses

We got an apartment through cross pollination for 215.Euros/night for 2 couples. It is located between St Marks and the Rialto bridge. It has a terrace. I hope it as good as it sounds on the website.
