Will be in Venice for 3 days next June prior to our tour beginning. Any recommendations on hotels in the Dorsodouro (sp) area would be much appreciated. Yes, I know this is more than 8 months away but I love to plan. Thanks!

There are 2 of us, no special requirements. A moderate budget is fine (not the Ritz); something with a history would be great. I don't mind spending a decent amount to get a good hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Santo Stefano in Venice. It isn't in the Dorsodouro area but pretty close. It was about a 2 minute walk to the Accademia bridge. The hotel is right on Campo Santo Stefano square in an old 15th century monastery watchtower. The square had great vibes, good food nearby and great gelato. It is also only about a 10 minute walk to Piazza San Marco. The best part of the hotel was the service. I feel they went above and beyond to welcome us, including a bottle of Prosecco and a charcuterie board on the square when we arrived. I really, really enjoyed this hotel.
