Greetings! I'm seeking recommendations for a place to stay on the Alpe di Siusi. We would be signing on for half-board, and good food would be a priority. Thanks!

Hotel Grones in Ortisei was wonderful - would stay there again. High quality accommodations and food. Family run. I know it is popular with others on this board also.

Mary Sue, my husband and I wanted to stay in the Alps di Suisi for our upcoming trip to the Dolomites, but gave up because there weren't a lot of choices. In RS' Italy guidebook, he mentions a couple of places. There are also several places mentioned in the Barton's "Walking in Italy's Val Gardena."
So, I don't have any recommendations for places to stay in the Alps di Suisi. After much deliberation, we ended up booking Hotel Grones, as mentioned previously. Supposedly, their half-board is fantastic.

Alpenhotel/Panorama and Hotel Saltria are the ones mentioned by the Bartons in their book.

Thanks, Janet. I was going to mention those! Staying in the AdS is very special and the half-board at each hotel is excellent! Given a choice, we like AlpenHotel Panorama a little more than Hotel Saltria. Without a car, you may want to take a taxi from Compatsch (or even Bolzano) to arrive as Panorama is served by a chairlift and there is no bus up from Compatsch.
