I would love to have suggestions for hotels in Sorrento that do not include numerous steps or steep inclines. I will be going with my sister who has myasthenia gravis and has problems with walking. She may even have to use a cane. This is the trip she has always wanted to take and I want to make it memorable for her. Thank you for any suggestions.

Look at the Hilton in Sorrento, yes at the top of a hill, however, the bus does stop there, the view is gorgeous, and the rooms are large, as is the cost(I'm sure). We stayed there last March using points and it was very nice, however, don't know if there are many places you can stay that will meet your criteria.

Try the Antiche Mura Hotel, it is 4 stars with a wonderful staff, here is their website: www.antichemurahotel.com. It is very close to the train station and a short distance (1/2 block) to the main part of Sorrento.

Also look up "Hotels in Sorrento" and they usually give you what they have to offer, such as elevator which is most important to you. Good luck, what a good sister.

Have a look at the Hotel Plaza, a little bit cheaper and next door to the Antiche Mura. It is a recently refurbished, last couple of years, modern Italian style hotel with a rooftop pool and sun deck. Like the AM it does not do evening meals but you are close to everthing anyway. http://www.plazasorrento.com/en/home.html Edit it has an on-site coffee/wine/snack cafe

Just remembered that should you wish to borrow a wheelchair any time there is a local charity that will supply one. Your hotel should be able to arrange it. It is free but a donation is appreciated/appropriate. http://www.ilpellicanotelevita.it/index.htm
