Hotels in Siena

We are going to Tuscany for part of our honeymoon and spending 3 nights in Siena. We would love to sample and bring back some local wines. Which hotel/ B&B should we stay in? Thanks!

Sumayya, Husband and I stayed at Hotel Bernini in '02 (our 25th anniversary)loved the terrace; we had a triple at Il Chiostro del Carmine in '07loved it but it's not in the center; 4 of us (2 Db, bathroom down the hall) stayed at Palazzo Masi in '10loved it but would have preferred ensuite, fabulous breakfast, fantastico owners & location; 3 of us (1Db, 1Sb) stayed at Almus Domus in '11ABSOLUTELY loved everything! That's where I would stay again. I've gone on 2 tours with toursbyroberto.com. They are the best and I will never consider another company!

Albergo Bernini was the best! The hotel was built in 1300 and is a great way to get a taste of Tuscany! We got there early so we could pick our own room. Grab the one at the end of the hall, last one on the left or right. The one on the left had two single beds but if you're on your honeymoon, it won't matter! The view from these rooms are amazing and the prices are reasonable. Eat breakfast on the beautiful terrace overlooking the Campo and Duomo. Hopefully Chico the cat is still there, he's very friendly as with all the staff! Highly recommend staying there, we will when we return definitely! http://www.albergobernini.com/index.html

Warning that rooms in Siena are pretty pricey. Check Booking.com, Venere.com and AirBnB.com for alternatives. You can also Google agriturisimo for other good places to be.

sumayya, I would also recommend Albergo Bernini. It's in a very convenient location and despite being in a VERY old building, the rooms are great. I stopped there in mid-2010 for a short visit (I happened to be in the area), and found that it was "under new management". I was very impressed with the new owners, and feel that they have absolutely kept the same standards as the family that previously owned it (however, I don't think there's an Accordion player in the group now). Having breakfast on the outdoor terrace in the Tuscan sunshine is wonderful! I would absolutely stay there again. Cheers!
