We are spending two nights in Rossano in the end of October to research family history. We think we want to stay in old town. Is there anywhere good to stay there? Most of the hotels I see are beach oriented...I am concerned about transportation to the town and back. Any recommendations, advice would be welcome. Thank you!

I love questions like this! I have not been, so hopefully someone who has will chime in, but you will have a car, no?

No car, arriving by train, I think, from Lamezia Terme.

Yes it looks like trenitalia will get you there. Be sure to ask your hotel about transfer from the train station to the town (or to make sure taxis are present).
