Hotels in Rome - Help Deciding

I need to narrow it down and pick one. We have these booked for July any have any reviews?

Albergo del Senato (near Pantheon rooftop restaurant with views of Patheon and Cathedral)
Aldrovandi Villa Borghese (near Borghese Garden-has a pool)
Donna Camilla Savelli ( in Trastevere area - old monastery)

Pantheon area can be bustling with loads of constant tourists. Borghese Gardens is not exactly a convenient place to be located.

Have you checked reviews??

I have not stayed at these - all look nice! Judging by location I would go with the one near the Pantheon. Second choice Trastavere. Borghese Gardens are nice - but this hotel is on the far side of the park, farther away from places you want to be. The Pantheon area is the best location in Rome in my opinion - you can walk almost everywhere, a lot of the streets are traffic limited so it's really pleasant to wander. Don't discount the value of being able to get up and walk 2 minutes to beautiful area of the city before anyone else is awake. Or do it late night. Either way, or both!

Trastevere is not so close to the main sights - but it isn't too far, and the neighborhood itself is great for walking around. I've been to Rome 3 times, stayed a full week once, and next time I may stay in Trastavere because I love the slightly more laid back atmosphere, a few less annoying tourists (still plenty tourist filled, which is OK by me) and it's a bit cheaper, but for a first visit (?) the Pantheon area is more convenient and has great atmosphere.

Thank you! I do realize Borghese is the furthest. I had friends stay there and suggested it which is why I added it. All 3 hotels get great reviews with Donna Camilla being the one at the bottom of the ratings list since it has small rooms and a bit dated. I also had a friend stay there and suggested it too.

We stayed in the Borghese area one time and felt it was so remote, like we had left Rome! We enjoyed staying between Palazzo Navona and the Pantheon as we could walk everyone we desired.

If you're talking about sending a private message, then click on their name (which is in blue) and it will take you to a page that will let you send a message to just them.

One of my coworkers just came back from Italy and they stayed near the Pantheon when they were in Rome and really enjoyed the location. I've no idea what hotel they used however.

My family, friends and I stayed (2 couples and 2 college-aged girls) at the Albergo del Senato last June. Everyone enjoyed the hotel. The location is perfect. If you stay, ask for a room on an upper floor facing the Pantheon, it is magical late at night overlooking this ancient structure in the moonlight. Note that there is a little noise if you face the Pantheon, but it did not disturb our sleep.

If you stay, they have a very good breakfast and a fantastic rooftop bar. What we really liked was the service. They not only helped with recommendations on restaurants, made taxi arrangements for us to go to the airport, but when we had a last minute cancellation on trip home from the airline and I had to scramble to rebook, they dealt with the taxi company, ensured we had something to eat before we ran to the airport. If we go to Rome again, we would stay there again.

Enjoy Rome,
Sandy

Thank you Sandy! Did you request that room when you checked in? It sounds lovely!!

Yes, I did request a view of the Pantheon, not the specific room. After staying there I was grateful to get a room on the 4th floor. A higher room is better if you can get it. Sorry, I don’t remember the exact room number, otherwise I would share it with you.

Hey OB3,

It's a bit off topic, but thought of something (if you will be staying around the Pantheon area.)

If you like teas and a boutique-style store just for a fun, look see, maybe check out

Via della Palombella 26, 00186 Rome, Italy

I saw this recommendation last year on a thread (khbuzzard.) It's around the corner from the Pantheon.

The teas are unique. It has a lot of exotic tea blends if there are any adult tea drinkers in your family. They sell chocolates and coffee too. Accessories like the rather expensive, heavy, tea pots can easily be found in the States.
