Try sleepinitaly.com we have rented an apartment for a week close to the vatican train station with 2 bedrooms seperate laundry shower toilet kitchen and lounge for 340E for the week this way we can prepare some of our own meals and for 4 of us works out a lot cheaper than a hotel but sleep in italy also have hotels. apartments, B&B, and hostel type accomodation hope this helps

One of my favorite websites for hotels is http://www.eurocheapo.com (they are broken down by City, then neighborhood). Their philosophy kind of reminds me of Rick’s, and some of their recommendations also parallel his own! I have stayed in two hotels that I found on this website and had wonderful experiences at both.
