Hotels in Ravenna

I was disappointed to see that Ravenna is not covered in the 2018 RS Italy guide book. We were last in Italy in 2014, and the RS Italy book we had at that time (one of the dogs has since chewed it up) included Ravenna.

Anyway, I would appreciate some hotel suggestions. I'm interested in the Palazzo Bezzi. Has anyone stayed there?

Any input about a 2-3 day trip to Ravenna from Venice will be much appreciated.

We stayed at Palazzo Bezzi when we visited Ravenna from Venice in 2013. It was an excellent choice. The room was large, bright, and tastefully furnished. We walked to there from the train station, and from there to most of the mosaics we wanted to see. It was amazingly inexpensive for the quality. I would happily return to Ravenna and would stay there again.

Check out the Hotel Alberto Cappello. We stayed several nights a couple of years ago. Excellent. Our room was huge, the shower was gigantic, and breakfast was great. We arrived just after midnight, 9 hours later than arranged...the trains went on strike...and the smiling desk clerk was waiting for us at the door. The staff was friendly and so very helpful in every respect. A happy hour...back then...offered a wide array of complimentary snacks that could pass for a meal. Good location for easy sightseeing. Fond memories of the kindness of everyone we met there. Safe travels.

Don't be concerned about low lodging prices. Because Ravenna is somewhat off-the-beaten-tracks, it's not as expensive. If you're interested in a B&B instead of a hotel, check out B&B Al Teatro. http://www.bbalteatroravenna.com/?lang=en

I stayed there for four nights in 2015 and it was delightful. The breakfast is amazing, with eggs cooked to order, for example. And the woman who runs it is an absolute delight.

I have stayed there the past two years. I loved it. I was in town for the half marathon and they were very accommodating which is quite unusual. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is superb.

Traylaparks,

My mom and I enjoyed our stay at Hotel Diana when we visited Ravenna in October 2014.

We also considered staying at Casa Masoli B&B (recommended in RS 2O14 Italy book), but it was already fully booked for our dates. This B&B is on the same street as Hotel Diana.

I had considered visiting Ferrara on our way back to Padua, but my mom (age 87) was too tired so we skipped it. Having said this, I plan to visit Ferrara in the future.

I wonder why RS didn’t include Ravenna in his 2018 Italy book. I just looked at my 2017 book and Ravenna was not included in that one either.

Enjoy your trip!

Edited to add:

Hotel Diana & Casa Masoli we’re both recommended in my 2015 Frommer’s Italy book.

Let me know if you want me to list the other hotels recommended in RS 2014 book.
