Hotels in Pantheon Area of Roma

Forgive me if I am beating a dead horse here. I plan to stay in the Pantheon area of Rome. I am looking for a nice hotel that is reasonably-priced (by Rome standards, of course). I accept the exorbitant prices in Rome. I just looking for a good value for the price.

Thank you for any recommendations.

Albergo del Senato is right next to the Pantheon. It would be helpful if you could define what you conside "reasonably-priced" - that means different things to different people. If price is an issue don't focus too much on the exact location as long as you are in the city center. Rome's center is very small and walkable.

The Hotel Minerva is right behind the Pantheon, in Piazza Minerva. Lovely hotel but I think it is a bit pricey. If you are planning on going in the off season though you might be able to get a good deal though.

Check out Hotel Smeraldo. It's closer to Campo dei Fiori than the Pantheon, but it's a wonderful place, great location, and still a quick walk to the Pantheon.

By "reasonably-priced" I was implicitly referring to the entire price range below that of the top-end luxury hotels.

Thank you for the recommendations.

A friend stayed at the Duca d'Alba and was pleased.

I second the Smeraldo recommendation. Great location. Easy walks to Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Largo Argentina, etc. Reasonable prices (a 2-star hotel?), and modern, comfy rooms. Big breakfast.

Well we have stayed at the Senato twice and must say that it continues to be a very fine hotel. The Junior suite is the room we always request as it opens up to a beautiful view of the Piazza della Rotonda. the Pantheon is almost close enough to touch right out of our window. With that said however, the prices have gone up as of the last two years. I love the hotel but i would also checked out the Cesari which we stayed in this past November. it was in the final stages of an ongoing renovation (with a new rooftop terrace)but there wasnt any noise or disturbances during our stay. its off of Piazza di Pietra right next to hadrians temple. The pantheon is a short min walk from the Cesari and the rates are lower than the pantheon. Value against price, i would choose the Cesari. I love the Senato and thats our personal choice but for the size of the room and the price we paid in relation to the closeness of the Pantheon, the Cesari was a great choice.

Sorry have to disagree with John. I stayed at the Cesari in May this year and it was not good. Yes the terrace is nice but the view is just roof tops and the surrounding buildings. The bathroom was not clean - quite a bit of mould in the shower and just generally grubby. Staff not that interested with a very average breakfast. I also thought it was expensive although the position is good. I think you can do better.

How about Hotel Navona--any good news on that recently? They have rooms from about 130E per night...and is just about 2 blks to the Pantheon.

Wow, I am sorry to hear that Helen!

Both my mothers room and our room were both spotless, large relative to european standards and very comfortable. We had a nice view of Piazza di Pietra from our two windows. my only complaint would be is the breakfast room as it is very,(tiny) small. something i totally forgot since we never really got up to eat in the morning; espresso and go.

An apartment would most likely be far less than an equivalent hotel room. This was our apartment...Campo dei Fiori and about 2 or 3 minutes walking to the Pantheon.

You could also try the Residenza Navona First where we stayed this past June. It's not fancy, but it was clean, only about 25 yards from the above mentioned apartment, had AC and included a little breakfast from the coffee shop around the corner. It was very very affordable for such a central location AND A/C rooms.

Interestingly, if you read the reviews on TripAdvisor on Hotel Navona, the comments are polar opposites. Aside from the location, seems like people love it or hate it. I suspect it has to do with one's expectation prior to arrival.

Hotel Navona is a great place. Have stayed there several times. Excellant location - just across from Piazza Navona and a 2 or 3 minute walk from the Pantheon. Rooms were very clean and the hotel is on a side street so it was quiet. Owners are Australian and very helpful as was all the staff. Continental style breakfast. We will be staying there again on our next trip.

I just checked out the reviews on tripadvisor and it seems like those who gave negative reviews were expecting room service and a doorman in a fancy outfit. But it was perfect for my needs - clean room, great location, friendly and helpful staff (but they did not bow down when I arrived). Coffee, juice and rolls were available, which was plenty to get me going. Once out the door there are plenty of great cafes nearby.
