Hotels in Milan

I checked on the moderate priced hotels listed in RS Italy, but pretty low ratings on trip Advisor. Where have you stayed that was a good value and experience? Thanks for your feedback. (Will be there two days in mid-October).

I have had good experiences at Hotel Berna and Hotel Teco. Each has a nice breakfast, good English-speaking staff. Berna is very close to Stazione Centrale, and Teco, though a little bit of a walk from there is easily reached by Metro if you don't wish to walk.

Hotel Garda is on the same street as Hotel Berna, costs a little less. Last year when I was there they were renovating, but the price has remained about the same (I will be there again in May). Breakfast is extra. Clean, comfortable, with helpful staff.

I see that there were photos of bed bugs at hotel berna posted on trip advisor. B&B Belcanto is a short tram ride away from Centrale, and highly reviewed.

I had a good experience at the Hotel Gran Duca di York last October.

Also stayed at Duca di York. Very nice room and decent breakfast. A bit hard to find at first, but close to Duomo and the Galleria.

We also stayed at the Duke of York in Milan, and found it very nice and quiet and near the Duomo. Don't go to the place Rick recommends to eat, which is very close to the hotel but it seems they put the tourist in the front room and the locals in the back and no value for money. We ate at a small place about a block or two further down the same street that the hotel desk boy recommended when we asked where he would eat around the hotel, the 4 of us went back again. Always ask a local.
