Hotels in Milan close to train station

We will be staying one night in Milan and would like to be semi-close to the train station. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hotel Berna is top notch and, relative to Milan, fairly budget-friendly. It is perhaps a 5-10 minute walk from Milano Centrale.

You should specify which station. If your next destination is Malpensa I’d try to stay near Cadorna station. Closer to the sights too.

We also were pleased with Hotel Berna near the central station.

I like the Berna and there is also the Garda across the street from Berna (price is a little less) Both are just a block or 2 from the train station and metro.
My favorite location for lodging in Milan.

As Roberto pointed there are three big stations in Milan. All three have trains to Malpensa. If you are arriving at Centrale, might as well stay there. Others have mentioned several nice hotels there.

Now the trains to Malpensa leave from Centrale and also stop at Porta Garibaldi (the other big station) as well as a few more places on the way to Malpensa, so it is 51 minutes to the airport.
Trains from Cadorna, the third station (commuters mostly) has trains that make fewer stops and get you there in 37 minutes. That station is closer to Duomo, Last Supper, and other Milan tourist sites. Easy to get to from Centrale on the Metro.

Trains from both stations start at 5:25 am and go every half hour.

Great question! I also will be staying in Milan for one night before heading the next morning to meet up with my tour in Varenna. Appreciate everyone's suggestion and Kathe for posting this and making it easy for me! Peace!

Hotel Berna on Via napo Torriano, about 300 meters from the front of Stazione Centrale is outstanding. We've stayed there countless times and will probably stay there when we return again. The property is extremely clean, the staff is first rate and helpful, and they serve the best breakfast in Milano. Top recommendation!

Buon viaggio,

The Vecchia Milano was a good choice for us. Have a look.

Best Western Hotel Madison was a good choice for us. Only a couple of blocks from Centrale station, and the only room we'd had on a three-week trip that had a coffee/tea maker!
