Looking for recommendations for hotels in Milan, city center
A lot of us have stayed at Hotel Berna. It’s very handy to the Milano Centrale train station and the metro to the Duomo, etc.
My husband and I stayed at Hotel Berna in 2015 and will stay there again in September. Conveniently located across the street from the train station. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Many perks such as free soft drinks in room, free tea/coffee 24 hours a day, etc. You can customize your room with choice of pillows, room temperature and even what soft drinks you want them to put in the room fridge. There was a coffee pot in the room with coffee, tea and snack cookies. We did not purchase the breakfast last time but will do so this year because it has gotten very good reviews.
I like the Hotel Gran Duca di York. It's maybe a 5-minute walk to the Duomo. It took me about 30 minutes to walk from there to the Last Supper location (with a diversion to look at some ruins, lol). There are plenty of restaurants in the area and it is literally directly across the street from the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana if you plan to visit that museum.
The breakfast is excellent and all the staff I've come in contact with are extremely nice.
I stayed there last October as well as a number of years ago.
We were super happy with the 43 Station Hotel. It is super close to the train station and subway. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g187849-d4454453-r432846463-Bistrot_Centrale-Milan_Lombardy.html
There is a "Food Hall" in the train station itself with some fabulous choices. We loved trying a couple of cocktails at the bar there! https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g187849-d4454453-r432846463-Bistrot_Centrale-Milan_Lombardy.html
We stayed at Hotel Garda in May 2022 - a few doors down form Hotel Berna. After a long haul flight, an hour going through passport control at MXP, the 30+ minute train ride to Central station, the four of us were so happy to see our hotel from the plaza in front of the station.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff were very nice and the breakfast was wonderful. We would stay here again.
Another vote for the Hotel Gran Duca di York. I have stayed there twice and like the location, rooms, and breakfast.
And another vote for the Hotel Gran Duca di York. I stayed there last May and can thoroughly recommend it. We have also stayed at the Berna, and would stay there again, it is close to the station but not maybe where you want to be.
We have also stayed at Hotel Berna. In Nov (and when we return in a couple of weeks), we stayed at Hotel Windsor. It's about a 10-15 min walk from Milano Centrale.
We stayed at the Hotel Spice Milano. I like a nice hotel and we usually book at the 4-star level but this one was quite good. It's about a block from the central train station. While it is an older building, the rooms are very modern and minimalistic. It is not a hotel with a lot of ambiance and charm but the price is definitely right. Breakfast is available but not included in the rate. There isn't much of a lobby but the registration desk was efficient and available. There isn't a bar or restaurant on site but plenty are nearby. Because it was cheap, we booked a room with a balcony on the top floor and it was still affordable. The extra light made the room seem bigger and was helpful in getting us through jet lag. It was also a good place to discreetly dry laundry.
We stayed for three nights and were pleased. The room was clean and quiet, the climate control effective, the bed comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The location was very central and there are street markets nearby. Give it a look. It worked for us.
We stayed at Ibis Milano Centrale. It's 1 train station from the Milano Centrale Station. It's located well for restaurants. Breakfast is good.
