Hotels in italy

Going to Italy in April with my husband and would like to not spend a fortune on rooms but want to be able to comfortably and safely sleep. Would also like to be accessible to transportation but near the action as well. These below are all RS recommended. Just need help making some decisions from the pros! Venice: locanda silva 85 euros vs pensione guerrato (90) both shared facilities however the latter is next to the check in desk and they said could be noisy. Do I bite the bullet and stay where I would prefer or do silva? Florence: hotel Dali (65) vs B and B Bargello (100) vs soggiorno barristero (105). Would prefer to stay in this area because of location, any rec Dali is cheap but no breakfast, east of duomo? Is it to far from the hub? Rome: hotel smeraldo is the only one responding currently (140) near pantheon any suggestions?

I stayed at Hotel Genio in Rome (less than one block to the north entrance of Piazza Navona). Room (a single) was okay, staff was extremely helpful, but the big draw was the rooftop breakfast room which is open from 7am to 11pm with 360-degree views of Rome. You might check booking.com for other recommendations, even if you don't book through them, you can use their maps, reviews and photos to help you decide (all reviews are written by guests who've stayed in the properties recently).
