Good morning! I am thinking about traveling to Florence with some friends and would like suggestions about hotels that are good for American travelers.
Thank you!

Consider the Hotel Balesteri, on the Arno. Great location.
We stayed at the Hotel California ((yep, that's really the name) several years ago and would do so again. Beautiful facility, excellent breakfast, and one can walk to just about everywhere from that location.
TC, nice to hear you can actually leave Hotel California, and not just check-out. :)
Awesome! Thanks!!

Anywhere in the historic center is good for travelers from all nations
Hotel Pendini has a great location just a few blocks from the duomo and the best air conditioning ever. We were there last June.
Loved Hotel Pendini!
A few years ago I stayed in a B&B in Florence called Residenza Il Villino
I had a wonderful attic room with a peekaboo view of the Duomo full bath, minifrig
The breakfast is wonderful, prepared by Barbara, the owner
Inside or in the patio

Highly recommend Hotel Kursaal and Ausonia Firenze!
Avoid Hotel Principe; our stay there was not great.
Hotel Silla from Rick's book. They give a "Rick Steves" discount.
We loved the huge breakfast on the beautiful terrace. And the location is nice, on the other side of the Arno in a local neighborhood.
