Hotels in Florence and Milan

I will be in Florence a couple nights in late April at the start of my trip and in Milan a couple nights in May atthe end of my trip. I need suggestions for lodging in both. Preferably near Uffizi Gallery and Milan Cathedral or The Last Supper. Or near metro or transport to those places. Thank you

We enjoyed the Torre Guelfa in Florence this past summer. Looks like rooms in late April run from €200 - 300 per night.

The location is great, just a short hop to the Ponte Vecchio, and perhaps a 5 - 7 minute walk to the Uffizzi. The staff is great, and the included breakfast is amazing.

We really enjoyed our stay in Florence at the Hotel Silla in October, 2023. It's in the Oltrarno section of the city and just across the river from the Uffizi.

What is your budget? We went this summer but first cabin so we have some recommendations but not if you are not willing to splurge.

For Milan, when I was looking I assembled a short list of hotels recommended on this forum. Ones within walking distance of Cadorna station, the Last Supper, and the Duomo include Gran Duca di York (probably recommended most ), Antico Locando Leonardo, London Hotel, and Lancaster Hotel. I ended up staying at Cadorna Luxury Hotel (due to availability and price for the nights I needed) which was conveniently located and satisfactory but probably not as nice as some of the others.

Close to Milan Centrale station and a few metro stop to the Duomo, people on this forum have recommended Hotel Garda, Hotel Berna, and an IBIS hotel. I stayed at Hotel Garda and was happy with it.

Another vote from me for Grand Duca di York. A lovely, reasonably priced hotel in walking distance to everything in Milan. We had two nights there.

In Florence we stayed at Hotel Davanzatti, again in a great location, where we walked to everything. Large rooms, great breakfast and an evening wine get together each night which was lovely.

We are going to Florence and Milan this May so I haven’t actually stayed at the hotels yet. But I thought it might be helpful to you to know that we have reservations at Hotel Gran Duca di York in Milan that people here have recommended. I know that people on the Fodors travel forum also recommend the Gran Duca.

In Florence we are staying at B&B Cimatori located between the Duomo and Uffizi.

Another vote for Hotel Balestri in Florence. On the river, easy walk to all the sights. We stayed this past October and really enjoyed it.

We stayed at Hotel Pendini in Florence, which overlooks Piazza della Repubblica and is near the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. It's just a short walk to the Uffizi Gallery and David, as well as within walking distance of the train station and Piazzale Michelangelo. Highly recommended!

For next March, I’ve booked Room Mate Giulia in Milan, right next to the Duomo. Can’t wait to experience it!

In Florence we stayed at the Hotel Loggiato dei Serviti. Centrally located, great breakfast and even has a "turret" room with a balcony. But I wouldn't recommend it if you need an elevator.
In Milan we've stayed at the Hotel Gran Duca di York, Hotel Cavelieri and a third one which isn't worth mentioning. The Gran Duca di York would be my first choice.
