We will be in the Cinque Terre the last week of September and are finding it difficult to find a hotel to book in advance. Has anyone stayed in Levanto instead?
Any suggestions on hotels there or in the Cinque Terre?
We stayed at the Villa Margherita in Levanto and had a
great stay.
It's a short walk to the train station and easy access
to the 5 villages. It's quieter than the CT with more
European tourists. We enjoyed being able to come back
to Levanto and have our choice of great restos and less
frenetic crowds.
My husband walked the CT trail starting from Levanto so
that's an option rather than going to the first CT
village.
Rent a private apartment. There is tons of them scattered across each of the towns and they are cheaper and better than the hotels. Just show up without reservations and ask around at local shops and bars.
Nathan is correct as far as I know. We were staying in a hotel in Monterossa. A couple came in to try and rent a room, and the receptionist said they were booked, but offered to rent her apartment in town to them. The receptionist went to stay with a friend for those few day. If you are like me, and want to be sure you had a place to stay, the Mimi's option is good too.
In Vernazza try:
We stayed at the Marina Piccola in Manorolo and found it onvenient and adequate. They provided an early breakfast the day we left.
