Hi
I will be going to Italy April this year and would love a recommendation for the best town and hotel to stay in Cinque Terre overnight.
Any suggestions? We will be based in Pisa for 5 nights before a cooking school in Tuscany region and thought instead of taking the train for one day to Cinque Terre we would spend one night there.
thanks
Deborah
La Spiaggia, Monterosso. Easy walk from the train station, practically on the beach, has an elevator, family owned. Book a sea-view room with balcony.
Editing to add: "Best" is subjective! You'll get other recommendations, and none of them will be wrong 'cuz they were right for the people passing the recos along. :O)
We stayed at La Mala in Vernazza and it was perfect. We have also stayed in Levanto which I also enjoyed. There are more options for hotels in Levanto and the train gets you to Cinque Terre in 5 minutes.
Really enjoyed Gianni Franzi in Vernazza (https://www.giannifranzi.it/english/rooms.html). Great views, funky architecture. Bit of a hike from the village square though, you've got to be up for it.
I recommend Hotel Porto Roca in Monterosso, sea view, set on a bluff next to beach and town. Excellent dining room too.
