Hotels for 4 adults in Rome

Hi, Going to Rome in early May, 2009. Looking for an affordable hotel that is nice and safe and close to transportation. Would like to share one room to save money. Any suggestions on hotels to look at?

Since most rooms in Europe are based on the number of people, you will look for a quad. Four people sharing a double or twin is not allowed.

You should also consider an apartment. You can probably get a two-bedroom apartment for the price of two hotel rooms. Then you could save money by eating in for some of your meals.

I found it difficult to find a quad hotel room. We rented an apartment through VRBO.com. We loved having a kitchen and washer!

Check out cross-pollilnate.com. We reserved an apartment through them for 4 adults. We did not want to share a room-but there were lots of options for people who do and it is cheaper. Just put in your dates, number in your party and the most you are willing to pay (per person). Then your options come up. Keep in mind that if you put in 4 people, the price is for 4 people in that apartment or room. (in other words-one room. Many places have more than one room, but it costs more per person for 2 rooms.) When I researched, I found some of them on Trip Advisor with good reviews. We ended up with a one bedroom/2 bath apartment with a pull out bed in the living room. It was very large, had a nice kitchen, and was one metro stop beyond the Forum area. All for 130 euros for 4 people (65 euros a couple)
