I stayed at the Belle Arti on a RS tour in 2004. Liked the location...close to the Accademia bridge. Good, safe location...next to a convent! Rooms are a bit small, but I only use them to sleep and shower so no problem. I'd stay there again.

We stayed at Hotel Belle Arti last summer after staying there on a RS tour in 2003. As Mary says, the rooms are small, but we had a nice view of the courtyard and enjoyed sitting outside to eat a quick lunch or just to relax between site-seeing adventures. The location is great-close to Academia bridge, but not in the middle of all of the tourist crowds. Decent breakfast.

I stayed at the Hotel Bel Sito in Venice, and it's old world (a little shabby), with small rooms, lots of charm (murano glass chandeleirs, etc) and in a square facing a church. A short walk to St. Mark's, just a little off the beaten track, and I do think there were church bells. www.hotelbelsitovenezia.it, info@hotelbelsito.info I would seriously stay here again. It's got a more detailed description in the RS Italy book.
