Hotel with shuttle near FCO Airport Rome, Italy restaurants nearby

My husband and I are looking for a hotel near FCO Airport in Rome, Italy where we can overnight prior to our next day 10:00 am flight home with good restaurants nearby for our last Italian meal and also with shuttle option to FCO, otherwise maybe close for taxi or other easy transit suggestion to FCO. Thank you!

Try the Hotel Tiber in Fiumicino. Ten minutes from the airport, surrounded by restaurants (mainly seafood) and with decent modern rooms.

Why not just stay at the Rome Airport Hilton? It's the last night of your trip - and their restaurant is good enough for what it is. And - you can walk to the airport.

I wondered about the Hilton but did not expect to get a great Italian meal. Have you eaten there?

Yes! And the food is fine. Probably not the best meal of your trip, but good enough in exchange for being within walking distance of your departure gate in the morning. I'm a bit OCD, and I want to be close to the airport on my last night anywhere.

HI Diane,
Do stay at the Hilton Rome Airport because it’s a nice way to end your last night in Rome. My sister and I ate a wonderful dinner before going to bed to catch a very early morning flight. We both agreed it was a nice way to end our vacation.

You will definitely not have a great meal at the Hilton, so it's a matter of priorities. Maybe eat dinner in Rome and then taxi there for a late night check-in? Or just stay in Rome and take an early taxi. It's only about a 40 minute trip and there are plentiful taxis at 6-7 a.m. from the historic center.

We have stayed at the Rome Airport Hilton numerous times. I would not consider their restaurant a great dining experience. In fact, we have found that a majority of the diners are ordering burgers there - guess they’re tired of Italian food. And the burgers are good according to my husband
Now, we try to have a good Italian lunch somewhere before getting to the hotel. Since we’re usually coming from Tuscany, we sometimes stop in Orvieto (we always have a rental car). This gets us our last good Italian meal,
It is nice to just get up and walk over to the terminal

My sister and her family, all multi-time travelers to Italy, and appreciative of “real” Italian food and small family-run hotels, always stay at a small hotel in the town of Fiumicino, adjacent to the airport, either upon arrival or the night before departure, or both. The hotel does not have a shuttle but a taxi is easy and inexpensive. It is close enough to the beach that they can take a nice sunset walk before dinner at a local restaurant.

I do not know the name of the hotel, but if you look on booking.com for “Fiumicino hotels” you will find some good options. Hotel Tiber, suggested above, is one of them, and looks quite nice. And then book direct with the hotel.

I’ve stayed at the Rome Airport Hilton several times the night before a flight home. It’s my favorite when I need to be at the airport by 4:00am and every last bit of sleep counts. I have eaten at their restaurant. The first time the meal was fine. But, the last time, it was busy with a large tour company, and my lasagna wasn’t hot in the center. So if a great meal is a priority, I would pick a different hotel or even stay in the city and take a taxi in the morning.

We stayed at Seccy Hotel Boutique in Fiumicino on a previous trip and liked its slightly offbeat atmosphere. It’s not fancy, but there is an airport shuttle, and we walked to a restaurant next door and had a great last meal. We were the only non-locals among families having dinner and watching football on tv. (It helps to have at least a little Italian.) For my upcoming solo trip, I’m spending the last night at the airport Hilton, with modest expectations for dinner there. As I’ll be alone, I chose convenience.

Thank you for this suggestion for hotel, food, and shuttle.

The Airport Hilton hotel was nice and very convenient for a 7am flight. Quick walk through a tunnel to the terminals. They will also give you a breakfast to go in a bag if you leave super early like we did (at 4:30am). However the food in the restaurant for dinner is very average. Eat somewhere else before you check in.
