Is it possible to get a clean, comfortable hotel in Venice for less than 200 USD per night? Any recommendations?
venere.com
Yes. And I recommend buying the RS Italy and/or Venice books to help you pick the lodging that best matches your needs. We like Pensione Guerrato. Happy travels.
Try the Hotel Campiello. It's close to Saint Mark's. We stayed in the "small" double, which should fall within your budget.
Check out Hotel Bernardi. 30/40 euro a night for a single.
"Comfortable" is open to individual interpretation, but if a clean, well-maintained but rather small room, decent breakfast, polite and helpful staff and a great location will meet your needs, then I'd suggest the Hotel Serenissima. We paid only 119 euro last May. This is located midway between the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. Write if you have specific questions, or check out the reviews on TripAdvisor.
Check out Hotel Flora. I found them online.......We managed to get two rooms for about $200 pernight (2006 summer) so I don't know how the prices will be currently. Nice place.
AirBnB.com, Venere.com, Booking.com, BBPlanet.com have as inexpensive of rooms as you'll often find in Venice.
Wow, this is great! Thanks everyone for your recommendations and yes I will get RS book too to get further information. Much appreciated everyone.
Raymond, I recommend Pensione Guerrato, in a great location near Rialto Bridge. We stayed there last June, and will be again this September. Our rate for a double in September is 130 Euro, less than $200. A great place with great owners.
I was very happy with Ca Centopietre (www.centopietre.net) on Dorsoduro. Very clean and conveniently located about a 5 minute walk from the Accademia vaporetto stop. Check recent reviews on tripadvisor.
Check out the Hotel Santa Lucia online. Very clean and comparatively spacious rooms.
We enjoyed Hotel Riva, lovely, authentic, quaint, quirky, clean, just over E100 in 2010, recommended by Rick. Nice people, decent breakfast, fantastic location, close to St. Mark's, at the intersection of two major canals. One caveat is reserve a room with AC, as they don't all have it, and be sure to ask at checkin. We arrived early with our friends, who wound up in a room without AC because we didn't think to ask.
I am also a fan of Pensione Guarrato.
