hotel venezia - Rome

A friend recommended the Hotel Venezia in Rome to my gf. Near the Termini station. I'm trying to figure out how to find and book a room at the hotel... I saw one post claiming it was closed, but others seem to have been posted after that one, so I'm not sure. Or any alternative ideas? We aren't interested in luxury accomodations - just clean & convenient. chip

There are lots of hotels in Rome. I've never stayed at a hotel that wasn't clean so I don't think you need to worry about that. You can try venere.com for hotels. The most central areas are the Navona and pantheon areas. The areas around the termini and Vatican are not as charming but are still convenient for getting to sights, public transport, shopping and restaurants. Donna

I have stayed at Hotel Venezia on Via Varese many times, but I thought it was closed. The last time we were there was 2003. The hotel shut off the air conditioner at midnight because it made too much noise in the owners apartment. It was so hot we told the management we thought we died and went to hell. They sent us over to their sister Hotel Columbia on Via Viminale, which was much better. I've stayed at Columbia many times and it is nice, but pricey for a 3 star property. Now we stay at a beautiful b&b down the street from Hotel Columbia called Armonio All' Opera. It is relatively new and well furnished. Buon viaggio,
