I can't be specific, but Trestevere is a good selection for a stay in Rome. Use booking.com or Venere.com to take a look. Both of these websites require an actual stay before giving a review, as opposed to Trip Advisor which doesn't. Also take a look at roninrome.com -- he gives the best, most detailed advice on anything Rome in the world. He's an American ex-pat who lived in Rome for years before returning to the U.S. (which was recent)

joe, One hotel you might consider in Trastevere is www.casasangiuseppe.it/index.php?id_lingua=3. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff are wonderful. It's in a very convenient location only a short distance from Piazza Trilussa (where street markets are held) and an easy walk to some of the sights in that area such as the Santa Maria in Trastevere Church. Happy travels!

Rick's Italy book and Rome book both recommend quite a few places for lodging in Trastevere (note the correct spelling) at several price levels.

We stayed at the Trilussa Palace Hotel in the Trastevere and LOVED it. That's a great neighborhood and the hotel was well situated. There is a tram stop right in front of the hotel that will take you straight into the historic district and a bus stop that will get you anywhere else you need to go. The staff is fantastic! They happily will help you with bus/tram info. My in-laws were with us on this trip and they are really needy travelers--this hotel was perfect them too. The staff took really good care of them when we all split up for the day. The rooms are nice, clean and larger than many I've stayed in for the price. The breakfast is also quite good. One of the best hotels I've stayed in while in Italy.
