My first forum post, please be merciful.
Hope the subject line works.
We have a situation such that we had to change our travel plans.
Only flight out of Rome we could get --> departs Rome at 0600 hours on Friday 23 May 2025.
I'm seeking suggestions where to stay and making arrangements for a place to sleep and travel to Fiumicino airport??
We can readily leave Assisi and return the car to the airport and then hopefully go back into Rome, walk around a bit, eat/see what we can, head back to Fiumicino area, then get on the plane.
I think it's about 30-60 minutes each way from Fiumicino to the main central area of Rome depending on transportation??
We also need to plan what to do with our luggage, just two of us with 2 items apiece.
For example, if we go back to Fiumicino late at night can we just wait at the airport or must we stay someplace till 0400 am, what??
But we want to make adequate plans for having someplace to rest/sleep before going to get on our plane, leaving 0600 am from Rome. As well as getting to the airport if need be.
We know there's likely hotels (cheap ones??) in or near Fiumicino airport but we have to consider the timing and logistics of going to the airport early enough (e.g. 0400-0500) to board on time.
Any suggestions and ideas would be welcome.
