hotel transfer from ports in Sorrento

We have added 3 days in Sorrento at the end of our Rick Steve's' Best of Italy 17 day trip. We have booked an Amalfi Coast semi-private boat tour (leaving from Marina Grande 21) and on another day we booked the Capri Deluxe island experience semi-private with city tour (leaving from Port Marina Piccola) . Both with MondoGuide.

I know we can ask our hotel to help us get transportation to the marinas, but when we complete our tours back at the marinas, are there taxies available there? I'm just not sure on our return trip back to the hotel. This is our first trip to Italy and have lots of questions!
Thank you!

Where is your hotel?
Is it close enough to walk?

There will probably be taxis at the ports but just be aware that taxis in Sorrento are famous for being outrageously expensive for very short rides

I would ask my hotel what to expect to pay

Pretty sure there is also a bus and your hotel should have that info

taxis in Sorrento are famous for being outrageously expensive for very short rides

An example is that we were charged €24 for the 5 minute ride from the train station to our hotel... and that was the metered price! There are usually taxis and a bus in the marina but if you're hotel is in town it may be a good idea to walk if your are able. There is an elevator for about €1.10 (3 years ago) to get you into town from the marina and then if your hotel is in town, it may only be a 10 minute walk. If you're up in the hills above Sorrento then you may need a taxi, or your hotel may have a shuttle bus.

We will be staying at Hotel Settimo Cielo. We were not sure if we can walk to the ports from there and how long it would take. Any suggestions would be helpful!

We walked past your hotel on our way out toward the Roman Villa Ruins one day. You can walk to the port in about 20-30 minutes. The first part of your walk will be on a narrow 2- way road with no sidewalks. Lots of people will be walking along it, remember to walk facing traffic because it is narrow and you'll want to see vehicles coming toward you. You'll likely walk along it several times if you had into the main part of Sorrento with the restaurants. I don't recall the walk along that road to be hilly.

Thank you for the info! We were hoping we could walk from our hotel.

I checked that hotel location on google and it doesn't show a direct walking route down to the waterfront. Instead it shows that you have to wind along the road. I've walked below that area and I'm hoping there's some little passageway that Google doesn't show. Check with your hotel but, if that's is the case, you're trading a lot of convenience and access to Sorrento for a great view. Sorrento is a pretty walkable town so I would hate to trade that convenience away for a view that I could enjoy every evening from the city park or one of the cafes along the seawall.

But to answer your basic question... Yes you can get taxis from your hotel to the Marina Piccola where the various ferries dock. But if you were down in Sorrento, it'd be a short walk to the public elevator down to the water then 5 minutes along the water to the ferry. I expect there'll typically be taxis waiting at the ferry dock parking lot to take you back to your hotel.

TLDR: consider a hotel down more in Sorrento if you want to have easy walking access to the Ferry Dock and the Train/Bus station.
