Hotel Suggestions in Sorrento!!

I'm visiting the Amalfi Coast in late September and from what I have read, Sorrento is the most convinent and best place to stay for taking day trips, etc. Does anyone have suggestions on hotels? Mid-high price range? Thanks!!

We've stayed at La Tonnarella 3 times and love it, it's in Rick's Italy book. But several people on the Helpline have recommended Ulisse Deluxe Hostel (it's actually a hotel) and it sounds great.

Mary,

Two Hotels that you could have a look at (depending on your preferences and price range):

Hotel Desiree (it's right beside La Tonnarella mentioned in the previous reply - somewhat basic but very comfortable, and the owners are wonderful).

Hotel Settimo Cielo (a bit more "upscale" and great views!).

Happy travels!

You could try a brand new hotel which is getting good reviews ie Grand Hotel La Favorita. It is located between the edge of the old town and the sea, therefore very convenient for all that Sorrento has to offer.

We stayed at Il Nido. It is up the hill and you have to take a shuttle but the times worked out and it was never a problem. It is very reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly. They also have a very good restaurant and incredible views.

We are returning to Italy in September and are staying at Hotel Desiree for the second time. Helpful and friendly staff, simple breakfast included and simple but clean rooms. If you can enjoy something more expensive, then, there will be many other choices. For us, we prefer to spend a month in Italy and so, chose less expensive place to stay.

My husband and I have stayed at the Hotel Garni Deairee several times. Clean and inexpensive with beautiful views and a small garden that is nice for reading and relaxing.

We will be staying at Grand Hotel Aminta which is up the hill a bit. A local bus stops right in front of the hotel. Good reviews on Expedia and Trip Advisor and it sounded like the people didn't mind taking the bus and they loved the quiet surroundings unlike those found in Sorrento. Pictures on these sites and their own site make the place seem like a very nice place to stay with great views. We've booked for $155/night and that includes full breakfast.
