We have one night to spend in Lucca on our way by train to Cinque Terre. Does any one have a hotel to suggest. There are 7 adults in our group. We can go 4 and 3 or 3, 2 and 2.

There is a great family run hotel just outside the walls that has a variety of rooms. It's the Hotel Melecchi. A generous breakfast in the morning; big bright rooms. Giovanni is the host.

Our family really enjoyed staying at Piccolo Hotel Puccini. It was a very easy walk from the train station with our luggage. The location inside the walls was fabulous and the staff very friendly. The rates were very reasonable (something like 90 EUR for a double with bath).We just got 2 doubles, so I'm not sure if they could make one a triple.

Strong second for the Piccolo Puccini. We had a wonderful stay there last year. Great location, the staff was very helpful--we had some great meals by following their recomendations.
