Hotel suggestions in Capri?

We're spending the first 3 nights in Capri of our 2 week trip to Italy. Can you suggest hotels and the best side of the island to stay?
Thank you!

La Minerva on the pedestrian pathway between Punta Tragara and Giardini Agosto. Away from day trippers. Family owned boutique hotel by brothers Luigi and Antonino, outstanding service from the owners and staff. Water views throughout. Pool. Great dining recommendations and reservations. One of our favorite hotel experiences that we have ever had and we travel a lot.

I second Suki's suggestion. La Minerva is a beautiful hotel and a wonderful experience. My favorite hotel in the world and I travel extensively, so that says something! Enjoy your trip.

Hotel La Minerva is sold out, we're on a waitlist and have been for some time. Hotel Caesar Augustus is a bit above our price point at 710 euro/night... Any other suggestions in the 350 euro range? Thanks!

350 Euro range? Yikes, have hotels gotten THAT expensive in Capri? Yes, I realize some are like the ones with infinity pools and perfect locations. I stayed in the Hotel Relais Maresca (it was somewhat off-season in September) and it was lovely (definitely not inexpensive, but Capri is quite pricy). The hotel wasn't up high overlooking the entire island but very close to the ferry/ Marina Grande and with a beautiful water view (http://www.booking.com/Share-JQspnjL).

Check out www.booking.com by various criteria, and also consider Anacapri which is a bit less glamorous but still gorgeous.

I've never slept on Capri, but I'd want to know how my luggage gets from the ferry dock to the door of the hotel, and what portion I have to do myself. This island is highly pedestrianized.

We spent our honeymoon in June 2004 at the Caesar Augustus in Anacapri. Junior Suite with Sea View was $565 per night. Just checked their website. Same room in June this year is $1,186.

Porter service is available for a fee at the dock. Scroll down to "Once You've Arrived on Capri."

If you know exactly which ferry you'll be arriving on, you can usually arrange with your hotel in advance (or call them once you've boarded or even after you've arrived) to have your bags transferred for a fee. For instance, see "Luggage Transport" info on La Minerva's website:

https://www.laminervacapri.com/en/location#section-capri

I'd suggest plugging your dates into booking.com, see what comes up in your price range, read the reviews and check locations to see how far you'd be from Capri or Anacapri centers, not that the island is that big but....The good news about Capri is that due to its reputation as a posh destination, there are few "dogs" one could end up in. And, of course, the more extras you're willing to forego, such as on-site restaurants spas, etc., the lower tariffs can be.

My hotel was (intentionally) less than a 5 minute walk from the ferry dock/Marina Grande so I simply carried it. There are hotels close to the ferry dock, and others that are only accessible via funicular and walking through a lot of narrow alleys all over the island.
