We will be leaving on a cruise from Venice and want to book a hotel in the Piazzale Roma near the pier for one night. Any suggestions?

You want to be in the Santa Croce area. One suggestion would be the Palazzo Odoni (www.palzzoodoni.it). 8 minute walk from the Piazale Roma and within a short walk to or from the cruise terminals. Comments on this website have been positive except for Room 7 which seems to share a wall with the food service area of the hotel. Quite noisy.

I stayed at the Aberdeen with a RS tour about 16 months ago. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I would just try to make sure your room is pretty far from where the computers are (I think they are on the same level as the reception of maybe even down a short flight if memory serves me). One of the other ladies on the tour said she could hear tapping noises at night and that is when we figured out it was the people on the computer. I had the room just to the right of the top of the steps at the main stairwell and it was perfect.
