I have stayed in this hotel before but have not been able to reach them by phone or e-mail. Does any one have info about them.
Hotel Speronari may have closed. Recalled seeing something posted a while back, and found the following dated 01/24/07: "When you email the Hotel Speronari for reservations now you receive notice that the hotel is closed. Am very sorry, since we thoroughly enjoyed it in 2003."
Karen,
If the Hotel Speronari has in fact closed, you might consider Hotel London. I stayed there in June, and would certainly recommend it. The room was very comfortable, the staff helpful and it's in a great location (about a 10-15 minute walk to the Duomo or Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele).
There are some good restaurants within a short distance (either on Via Dante or close by), a nice restaurant right across the street, Metro stations close by and Cadorna Station also very close if you're heading to or from the airport.
Good luck and happy travels!
Don't know about this hotel but did stay at Hotel Berna a few weeks ago and it was wonderful. You can easily walk here in less than ten min. from the train station. The breakfast buffet here is amazing. Rooms were really nice and great a/c.
I am sorry to hear that the Speronari has closed. I used it twice and found the staff courteous and helpful. I still remember arriving after a long flight to be welcomed with a true Italian cappacino. I will try the London Hotel. Thanks for thr referral. Gerry
