Hotel Smeraldo - Rome

Has anyone stayed here. How was it?

We stayed there in May. The rooms are very small, not much bigger that the bed, but clean. The hotel is a little hard to find as it is in an alley not a main road. The advantage is the location. We walked everywhere and saw all of the major sites, including Vatican City. I would recommend it if you are just staying a few nights and don't plan to spend much time in the room. We would spend the morning seeing the sites go back to nap during siesta and then back out in the evening. Don't miss Rick's night time walking tour. It is beautiful seeing everything lit up.

Count us as fans of Hotel Smeraldo as well. Perfect location, nice enough rooms, air conditioning works great, nice rooftop terrace, helpful staff.

I have recommended the hotel to many friends. It is on a quiet street but within walking distance of everything. The rooms are small but clean and the front desk was very helpful.

We stayed there in fall 2007. Location is wonderful and we enjoyed our stay there. We stayed on the ground floor right next to the front desk which was a little loud in the morning, but otherwise it was just fine. I would stay there again.

Stayed here in July 2006 and it was very nice. Our family of 4 had 2 rooms close by each other. Rooms are smallish but the great a/c more than made up for this. It felt so good with the summer heat! It is in a great location and would stay here again. Have also stayed at Hotel Italia but prefer the location of the Smeraldo.

Thanks to all. We are booked at their annex since they were full at the hotel the end of Sept. Looking forward to the trip.

Hi Melva,
Let us know about the annex when you return from Italy. I'm curious about the location, etc.
Have a great trip!
