Staying in Rome for 6 nights pre-cruise and trying to decide between Hotel Smeraldo and Hotel Damaso. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We stayed at Hotel Smeraldo earlier this month. Great location, excellent breakfast, friendly desk and kitchen staff, very nice roof terrace. The only downside is that it can be a little noisy - at least that was the case with our room. Still, that didn't stop our enjoyment of being in Rome for that part of our trip.

It’s been years, but I stayed at Hotel Smeraldo and liked it’s location. Believe it’s been remodeled and expanded since I stayed at it. Haven’t stayed the the other you asked about.
