Hotel Shuttle or Train to FCO?

Hi,

We have a flight leaving Rome to Vancouver on February 27. The flight leaves at 8:55am. The hotel recommends that I take their shuttle at 75 euros. I see the train gets to the airport at 6:07 am and costs 42 euros. I am more apt to take the train but do you think that will give us enough time to go through security, etc?

Thanks!

75 euros is way too high. You can get a cab from central Rome for a flat rate of about 50 or 55 Euros. You can get a private car service for only a little more. If you are at the airport at 6 a.m. you should be ok.

There are no direct flights from FCO to Vancouver and there are no flights bound to North America before 9:30am, that means that your 8:55 flight is a intra Europe flight connecting in some major European hub first. You don't need to be at the airport 3 hours prior to departure for an intra Europe flight.

It is way more than sufficient to be at the airport 90 minutes prior to departure, and you will still have plenty of time at the gate prior to boarding.

Just to note, our poster here has 5 people - 2 adults and 3 young children - to get to the airport. Thought I'd mention that in case that affects the cab rate?

Roberto we are connecting in Amsterdam. I didn't know if that made a difference in the time we can arrive at the airport.

Thanks so much everyone!
