Hotel reservations and cost

Just want to give an update. There has been some questions asked in the past two months regarding hotel cost because of the shrinking dollar against the euro. We just arrived home from a month vacation in Italy and I want to report if you made reservations even up to a year ago in Italy the prices have not changed. We made our reservations a year ago for this particular trip and we paid exactly what we were quoted a year ago. We stayed at 8 different hotels throughtout Italy and all 8 honored their qoutes. As for prices on everything else including food and wine, do yourself a favor and ask your hotel desk person to recommend a non tourist eatery and you will save plenty of euros. Our average dinner including first, and second courses, with wine averaged 40.00 euros for two people. With the American dollar being so weak against the euro we were surprised how well we did. If I can be of any help to anyone just send an email.

Were the quotes in euros? If so, the changing dollar would not mean anything to them.

I am sure they were quoted in Euro. All the reservations we have ever made were always quote in local currency. Interesting promotion ---- in today's (Saturday) Wall Street Journal it was report that the World Hotels chain in Europe will quote in Euro and accept the same amount in dollars. Only good through June 30 and for holders of US passports -- sorry Canadian friends.
