My wife and I plan to take the 10 day RS tour to Venice, Florence, and Rome next year. We want to arrive in Venice 2 days before the official tour starts. We want to stay in the same hotel that the RS group will be staying in. How far in advance does RS book the hotels? How can we make sure that we stay in the same hotel that we will be in once the official tour starts?

David, We did this tour last year, and they sent out the names of the first and last hotel a few months ahead of tour for this very reason. By all means call them and they will tell you when to expect the info. It is a common uestion for them.

Certainly you should call the RS staff about this, at least once you have booked the tour. I will tell you that I have an RS tour coming up very soon, and as soon as I was notified of the initial hotel, in Venice, well in advance of the tour dates, I contacted the hotel to book three nights right before the tour began. But the hotel was already booked up at that point, with no rooms available. I easily found another good and economical place to stay, but will need to change hotels in the middle of my time in Venice.
