Hotel Recommendations - Leonardo de Vinci Airport

We will be traveling in Italy for 30 days in Sep and Oct. Our travel will principally be by train. Our itinerary is based on the one recommended in the Rick Steve's guidebook for Italy. On our final day we have a 6:00 a.m. flight from Leonardo de Vinci Airport, so we plan is to take the train from Rome to the airport on the preceding afternoon and stay at a hotel near the airport. Ideally the hotel should be easy to get to from the airport and provide a shuttle service to the airport terminal early the next morning. Does anyone have recommendations?

Hilton at the airport. Just walk to the terminal.
However Rome is only 30 min by taxi that early in the am. For a intra EU flight it is sufficient to be at the airport 75 min prior to departure.

If you end up staying in the city, then your hotel can reserve ahead for a taxi to pick you up at 4:00 a.m.

The Rome hotels and taxi companies are very used to the early flight times. It is very easy for your hotel to have a taxi waiting outside the hotel at 4:00am to get you to the airport in 30-35 minutes. Taxi fares from Rome to the airport are set by law. Last I heard, it was 48Euro plus one Euro for each bag in the trunk. Staying in Fiumicino can work but the hotels there aren't really that special and they know why you are there. Many have early shuttles to the airport. As Roberto has noted, you can walk to the airport on an overhead walkway from the Hilton. Have a memorable early last evening in Rome.

Hi there,

I have stayed at the airport Hilton several times when I have had an early AM flight. It was expensive, but not more than other airport hotels I have stayed in. It is as Roberto has indicated; just walk to the terminal.

One advantage I used to appreciate: the bar there could make a respectable martini, which at that time was a rarity in Rome.
