I will be traveling by train from Ljubljana to Venice in October for 3 days and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for hotels. I will be traveling by myself and don't really want to spend $3-400 a night for a hotel room. I would like to find something near the city center if possible.
Hi Sheryl. We stayed at Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo (link below). Smallish, nice breakfast, about a 15 minute walk from St. Marks, Vaparetto stop very close to the hotel, very nice (smallish) rooms with tall wooden beam ceilings. Cash rate in May was €130. Excellent value, freindly staff.
Hi Sheryl,
My husband and I stayed at Palazzo Guardi when we were in Venice for two nights. It was a beautiful small hotel right at Accademia bridge. It was only about $45 a night and it included a really lovely continential breakfast.
We booked it on hostelworld.com. Check out the website anyways because they acutally have a lot more than just hostels for really reasonable prices like B&B's and hotels.
Good luck and safe travels!
Thank you both very much for your replies. I took a look at hostelsworld.com and think I may have found a place for a reasonable rate and it looks to be an actual hotel.
I never would have thought to go to this site, because the thought of staying in a hostel make me think of a bunch of 20 year olds partying. I am glad to be wrong.
I stayed at the Don Orione Religious Guest House in Venice last May. Basic accomodations, but great location near Accademia Bridge and Zattere vaporetto stop. I would stay there again, especially if traveling solo. It's in the RS book.
