Hi everyone, we will be staying just two nights in Rome and an overnight in Positano. Any recommendations? It would be four people, two couples, so not sure if it would be more cost effective to look for an apt on airbnb.com or just go the hotel route.
Residence Alcione is excellent.
On one of the main streets in Positano
breakfast included. I have stayed there twice.
great choice.
I liked http://www.hoteljulia.it in Rome. Clean, good location, and good breakfast.
We have used Hotel Sonya and Aberdeen. Wife prefers Sonya because she thinks their lattes are better. If so, the margin is small. For two nights I would stick to a hotel just for convenience.
We love Hotel Aberdeen. Great location, inexpensive, quiet, good breakfast included... Nothing to complain about.
Here is another vote for Hotel Aberdeen in Rome. It is conveniently close to the train station and public transportation, easy enough to get to the main sites, clean, nice breakfast and helpful staff.
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Smeraldo in Rome. It's near Campo de Fiore and Largo Argentina. Most sights are within easy walking distance.
We loved Villa La Tartania in Positano. Two couples shared a very spacious room, one queen bed, two singles with lovely balcony with view of water right near the church. It is a B&B. We had a lot of luggage and they called for a golf cart service which lugged our belongings up to the bus stop for only about 10 euros which was well worth it.
In Rome we stayed at a beautiful B&B called the White House. It is situated just outside of the Vatican walls. Great find and very affordable
