Hotel recommendation -- one night in Milan

Hello

Going to be stopping in Milan for one night between Orvieto and Lausanne. Looking for hotel relatively close to the train station for 3 (2 adults, 1 teen). Doesn't have to have special amenities, just clean, safe and location conducive for getting back and forth to the train.

Thanks!

Those are my favorites as well - Hotel Berna (not Bernina) and Hotel Garda.

I have stayed at both the Hotel Berna and the Garda - both very close to the central train station.
I would recommend either one. I found the Garda to be a little bit cheaper than the Berna, but either one is perfect for your needs.

If we need to drop off a rental car at the airport in the morning, does it make sense to stay at either of these places. Can we bring a car there (and keep it overnight)? Or should we drop it off the night before and stay somewhere near the airport?

Christine,

My suggestion was also going to be Hotel Garda, and it's nice to hear you've now booked a room there. I stayed there in early October and timed the walk to Milano Centrale at about five minutes (once you know the way, of course). I found the room to be very modern and clean, with a large bathroom (which is not the case with many of the other hotels I use in Italy). I left for the station early, so didn't get a chance to try the breakfast. The only minor annoyance was the fact that they charge for Wi-Fi, but other than that, I was pleased with my stay there.
