I am going to Rome in end of Aug, any hotel recommendation?
Try the Beehive near Termini Station. It is owned and operated by an American Family living in Rome. They also have a B&B site for Rome, Florence and Venice called www.cross-pollinate.com Check them both out as they are both recommended in Ricks book on Italy. I have stayed at both the Beehive (very nice hostel/private rooms/art space/restaurant) and at a few of their B&B's. Good luck and have fun.
We stayed at a private apartment right near Piazza Vittorio which is near the center and walking distance from the Colosseum. We found it through http://www.cross-pollinate.com and it was Appartamento Filiberto
It's probably not the fanciest but it was clean, very well priced and comfortable. We spent most of the time away anyway so it was perfect for us. Even has a balcony.
We loved aromabb.it
We had the flowers room with it's own terrace. Off season in March was 100E per night.
So convenient to Termini. Quiet and safe.
Hotel Modigliani is a very comfortable midrange price hotel, about 2 blocks from the Spanish Steps. It is one block from the Piazza Barberini metro stop. Very convenient, clean, and very nice staff. Tends to fill up quickly though. Good Luck!
Thanks everyone for the helpful tips. I was thinking $150-200 per night
I think the Aberdeen Hotel is the best in Rona. Run by several sisters and cousins it is perfect for new travelers because the ladies are so knowledgeable and helpful. Good location, good prices and delicious breakfast in a lovely dining room. And very safe.
We stayed at Rick recommended Hotel Nerva-can`t beat location and very nice staff. Check it out

Hotel Aberdeen is very good. Very nice staff and close to Termini station.
Was there in July and can say only positive things about place and the staff.
We like Hotel delle Torre Argentina in the Largo Argentina area. Within 10 minutes walking to either Piazza Narvona, The Pantheon and 15/20 to Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps. 10 minutes to the Colosseum/Imerial Forum. Clean rooms, very helpful staff and we got a rate of 85 e per night that included breakfast.
I would also recommend Hotel Modigliani,we stayed there and really enjoyed it. 1 block walk from Barberini metro stop (which is just 1 or 2 stops from Termini on the metro) Good location and very comfortable, clean. The staff was friendly & helpful, and includes a good breakfast.
Hotel Italia - www.hotelitaliaroma.it. Wonderful people, great location 5 min walk from Piazza Repubblica, delicious breakfast included.
Hotel Navona, just steps away from Piazza Navona; you can reach the Pantheon by following a couple of windy streets; dont miss Sant'Eustachio Il Caffè on the way. All of this area was appeared in the movie "Eat, Pray, Love" - brought back great memories. The hotel has a wonderful, friendly staff. I liked it the most for it's location. The breakfast was alright, breads, jams, coffee/tea, but we preferred having fresh pastries and freshly pressed espresso at Cafe St. Eustachio. There's also a little coffee locale next to the hotel serving hot chocolate croissants & good coffee. The rooms were of a decent size, with a window. Our bathroom was smalish, but no surprise there. It was very clean. There are some rooms with a character - wood beams on the ceiling, etc. Hope you have a wonderful time!
p.d. - don't miss Cul de Sac, just off Piazza Navona, an authentic Roman dining experience. Small place (sit outside if you can), delectable dishes and excellent wine.
