Hotel Recommendation for Monterosso

We are going to be stopping in Cinque Terre next May (between our time in Rome and Florence) and my husband has his heart set on a hotel right on or very near the beach. Hotel Pasquale was our first choice but it is booked. Hotel La Spiaggia is booked and they said they have opened another hotel with beach views but have yet to send the information despite a couple of emails to them. We are looking in the $200-$225 range with breakfast included. Beach view is critical for my husband and cleanliness is primary for me. Does anyone have a recommendation? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Diane

Hotel Porto Roca is set above beach with sweeping ocean views. Great restaurant too.

If Pasquale is booked then Porto Roca is your only other choice. Even then you cannot necessarily see the beach. Plus it is too rich for my blood up there. In the "new" town, try Baia or Da Flo. I have not stayed in either. Baia is right on the road to old town and overlooks the beach on that side. You may need to request a room with a beach view. Da Flo is further north along the beach road and not all rooms appear to have a beach view. We did inquire at Villa...Argentina (?) for our trip but found Pasquale more to our liking. Expect the new town to be a bit louder as well.

Thanks Suzi but there is a 3 night minimum so it didn't work out. But thanks for the input. Diane

Thanks Marc. We ended up at what looks to be a charming B&B Il Giardino Incantato. No sea view but I'm sure it will be quieter and we can always take a walk down to the beach. Thanks for the suggestions.

Diane,

It may not be "on the beach" but my favourite hotel is Hotel Villa Steno. It's a "sister hotel" to Pasquale (same family), and although it's at the top of the "old town" it does have views of the water. If Pasquale is booked up, Villa Steno will likely be the same but you could still try.

Hotel Porto Roca has a great pool, so you may not even miss being on the beach. It's at the far end of the "old town" but not hard to get to. However, it is a bit on the "posh" side.
