We will be returning to Rome to fly home after we make our tour of Italy. I need a hotel recommendation for that last night. We are traveling with our 2 kids, 8 & 11 and will be flying out at 12:30 pm. Are there good hotels near the airport or is it cheaper to stay in town and just take the train? Thanks!
The Albergo Cesari comes highly recommended by many.

You have enough time to make it to the airport - so if you wanted to stay in the center for the evening, it would be a solid choice. Staying at the airport may be cheaper though if it cuts down on possible additional taxi and train rides -
You have plenty of time to make it to the Airport, I would just stay in town, something with easy transport to either Termini or Trastevere Station. The Leonardo Express leaves from the Termini, From Trastevere Station you can catch the FR1 train for half the price.
We usually stay in the Trastevere, near the river and central Rome, catch the #8 Tram to Trastevere Station, then on to the Airport. Even with all of that, you can have a nice breakfast and head to the airport at 9:00 to make your flight.

We loved it, stayed in the Flowers room. There are bunk beds in the living room, a private bedroom, and your own terrace.
Marco was lovely and it was a short schlep to Termini.
Enjoy!
