Hotel Reccomendations

My wife and I are planning a trip in October out of Rome to Siena for a three night stay and Cinque Terre for three nights.
Would appreciate any hotel reccomendations and advise on the usual weather in October. Thanks

Ah, yes, the weather. Well, usually nice but sometimes monsoon rains! I used wunderground.com and accuweather.com to help me predict (ha! I wish!)
In Rome we enjoyed Hotel Aberdeen; in Siena, Hotel Il Chiostro del Carmine and in Monterosso, Locanda Il Maestrale.

Siena: Hotel Alex.

Before you pick any hotels read the traveler reviews in Trip Advisor.com. You can use their search function to sort by popularity, price, etc., in each town.

Make sure you read/purchase a copy of both Rick Steves and the Lonely Planet guidebooks. They compliment each other. We won't leave home without them!

Two places in Siena where we usually stay Palazzo Bruchi which is delightful, well located charming and clean. Minutes from the Campo, some small markets and cafes and Internet Train. Breakfast foods were provided in a small shared kitchenette where you could also prepare a simple meal and store food in the communal fridge. Owners were wonderful, and VERY accomodating in allowing us an early checkin so that my husband could make early meeting in Siena. Alma Domus, more basic but also charming and well located. It's a former convent with nuns still on the premisis. There is a 1am curfew. Lovely views-- the showers take a bit of getting used to--- rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast costs and extra 5 euro--- we prefer a cafe breakfast on our own. Both are budget range choices. We also have stayed at Hotel Garden which, though not as well located was very lovely both in it's rooms and grounds with a fantastic breakfast in a really beautiful lightfilled breakfast room. It was a bit of a hike to the historic area, though there's a bus stop across the street. Excellent restaurant-- romantic setting.

We also stayed at the Palazzo Bruchi and enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was pre-packaged goodies but not a problem for us. A small kitchen is indeed accessible if you choose and several coffee choices were also provided. The location was the draw...just a few minutes walk to the Campo down a perfectly safe main street. Very quiet. The owner was helpful and friendly. We took a smaller room with private bath and it was fine. In late Sept/early Oct the weather was mild and comfortable.
