Any good suggestions for a hotel near Milpensa airport in Milan? We (family of 4) fly out morning of July 3rd. Also wondering if you have good recommendation of hotel close to Pompeii. We arrive in Rome on the 12th in the morning and planned on driving south, staying within close distance to Pompeii and visiting the morning of the 13th. Booked Il Nido in Sorrento, but seems a little far --any ideas? thank you!!

Jeanne, we liked Hotel Amleto in Pompeii. room was fairly large for Europe and well kept. It's 2blocks from the piazza and it's a nice little town. Hotel clerk was nice and gave good information. we stayed two nights and spent the whole middle day at the ruins. Before you go, read Robert Harris's book, POMPEII. It's historical fiction and we found some of thebuildings that are in thestory. It helped me picture more vividly how they lived their daily lives. Have a great teip! Mimi

@Norma, I noticed all the replies from Michele. I think seven is a bit of a "conservative" number, as I counted a few more than that. Maybe she's just trying to be helpful, but it does come across as being a bit "suspicious", especially when it involves resurrecting a four-year old post.
