Has anyone stayed here? Was told it is wonderful! thanks, Carolyn
I meant to ask this also, has anyone stayed at Davanzati Hotel? I am a single person...no kids, dog, etc. thanks, c.
You'll see many more current reviews than you can obtain here if you look up these hotels at www.tripadvisor.com or www.venere.com.
Thanks so much, I have read the comments in the Trip Advisor and Veneers...I just wondered if anyone who had been to either of these hotels had been there on this site. best, Carolyn
Hi Carolyn, My cousin and I stayed at Hotel Pitti Palace in 2004. The lobby had a "sewer" smell to it and and the first room they gave us reeked of cigarette smoke, but after we asked for another room, we settled into a nice, but not large, room that smelled fine. I remember it was very noisy if you left the window open but very quiet if it was closed. The breakfast is served in a very nice room with views of the Duomo and the food was pretty good. They made a very good decaf espresso for me ( yeah, I know, "decaf" espresso. . . ) It is so centrally located, not far from anything. Be sure to spend time in the Oltrarno district. Check out the Brancacci Chapel, the Pitti Palace (the Modern art section is a treat--remember "Modern" art does not necessarily mean abstract art. Lots of beautiful paintings by local artists of peasants scenes, etc.) Try to get to Sabatini's Trattoria outside the wall--cheap and simple food enjoyed by locals. Enjoy you time in Florence!
