Hotel Pendini in Florence

We were looking at the family rooms at the Hotel Pendini (3 adults) but have read some negative comments on TripAdvisor about them. Anyone been there recently?

We stayed there for four nights in 2005 and plan on being there another 4 nights in late September this year. We had a great time there. The location is terrific. It doesn't look like very much from the outside but once you go up the elevator or stairs and you're inside it beautiful and has an old world charm. Can't remember what the breadfasts were like but people were accommodating. We asked to have our room changed after we saw it only because it only had a shower and our feet hurt. They changed it no problem but we shouldn't have bothered as the tub was very small. But both rooms were lovely. Felt like you were in the 1900's.

We were three adults with reservations in June for a family room in the Pendini. They had described a room with two separate bedrooms and a shared bath. We had a huge awkward room with the bathroom next to one of the beds. There was NO privacy. We had to change to two separate rooms.
It is worn down and not as clean as one would like. The hotel is on the fourth floor of the building. The elevator is tiny. It held one person and the luggage. The walk is hellish! We did the walk every time as the elevator was small and in use. My advice is rethink!

We stayed there for 3 nights in 2005 and loved it. We enjoy the older places - and we always take stairs - even if there is an elevator.

But my bother stayed there in 2006 and didn't like it. He is a very large man and found the elevator small and the stairs impossible.

For the location you can not beat it. Plus they took care of our car while we were there.

Five women and I stayed in the family rooms and had no problems. We loved it. They really did a lot to accommodate. The largest room had 3 beds and the smaller room had 2 beds. Only draw back.....one bathroom and with 5 women....you get the picture.
