Hotel Palazzo Decumani in Naples

My friend and I stayed at the Palazzo Decumani for three nights last week. We really debated about where to stay in Naples, especially considering we were two middle-age ladies traveling alone, since we had heard quite a bit about safety issues. Our main objective of our visit was to explore via San Gregorio Armeno ("Christmas Alley"), where they specialize in Presepe (nativity) figures and cribs (creches). We felt like Palazzo Decumani was absolutely perfect in this regard--just a few short blocks from the street (which was really incredible) but also a short walk from San Severo, the National Archeological Museum, and the Duomo. While the beds were not great (but typical by European standards), the room was very spacious (it even had a sitting room area, which was really appreciated) and clean (also appreciated), the staff was extremely helpful and friendly (and spoke English well), the breakfast was great, and we felt very safe. We would most definitely recommend it as an ideal place to stay in Naples.
